Gateway Longview in collaboration with New Directions Youth & Family Services are gearing up for the 11th Annual BBQ & Blues Bash next Friday, June 21, 2019 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. at its new location, Buffalo River Fest Park. 97 Rock’s Rich “Bull” Gaenzler, WGRZ Channel 2’s Lauren Hall, and WIVB News 4’s Christy Kern will emcee the event. Proceeds benefit nearly 10,000 Western New York children and families who receive support from Gateway Longview and New Directions Youth & Family Services, two agencies committed to protecting and fostering good for children, youth, and families in Western New York.
Over 1,500 music fans from across Western New York will eat, drink, and enjoy the best talent Buffalo has to offer during the region’s premier blues event, now at Buffalo River Fest Park, located at 249 Ohio Street in Buffalo’s historic Old First Ward neighborhood.
“After 10 years of growth, we are excited to move this important fundraiser to an even bigger space along the beautiful Buffalo River,” said event co-chair Michael Ervin, Gateway Longview’s Board Chair. “And, because we are joining forces with New Directions, event supporters will impact more local children and families than ever before.”
“By collaborating with Gateway Longview, New Directions has the opportunity to enhance the impact and scope of the event, while keeping the same fun and laid-back atmosphere that attendees have grown to love over the past 10 years,” said Christine Weeks, President of New Directions’ Board of Trustees and event co-chair.
The outdoor concert and barbecue food-fest will feature an all-local musical lineup, including co-headliners The House Band and The Soul Providers, and featuring special guests That Gateway Band (comprised of Gateway Longview staff) and Bluenote Riders. Award-winning barbecue will be served by local favorites BW’s Smokin’ Barrels BBQ, Jake & the Fatman BBQ, and Babz BBQ. All event details and updates will be shared with #BBQBB.
Festivities will take place rain or shine. Free parking will be available across the street on a first come first served basis. Guests are encouraged to bring their own chairs for the lawn chair seating area (first come first served seating area). The 21+ event is sponsored by Entercom Buffalo, Independent Health, Try-It Distributing, Nottingham Advisors, Lawley Insurance, Colecraft Commercial Furnishings, Ellicott Development, Walsh Duffield, i-Evolve Technologies, Employee Benefit Concepts, and Freed Maxick CPAs. Sponsorship packages are available with all proceeds benefiting Gateway Longview and New Directions Youth & Family Services, directly impacting nearly 10,000 Western New York children and families served by the agencies.
