Denver-based funk and soul ensemble The Motet have partnered with The Clinic, a local Colorado marijuana dispensary, to release the band’s first strain called StarMatter 303. This special, hand-picked collaboration brings forth the new StarMatter 303 Live Resin HTE pod with lineage of both 303 OG and Stardawg Guava strains. The pod will launch at all locations of The Clinic starting April 1st with the official celebratory Launch Pad Party set for Saturday, April 20th at 10 Mile Music Hall in Frisco, CO. This collaboration will continue through Friday, July 12th when The Motet headline their 5th annual show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre.
“After months of working with our good friends over at The Clinic, we’re excited to announce The Motet’s first strain: Star Matter 303!,” shares the band. “It’s a flavorful OG with an earthy finish that keeps us relaxed and inspired.”
The Motet released their latest and ninth overall studio album, Death Or Devotion, on January 25th via their own label. The 10-track, critically-acclaimed album, hailed a “a funk/soul gem” by the Associated Press, is a killer collection of feel good grooves featuring the singles “Highly Compatible,” “Whacha Gonna Bring,” “Supernova” and “Get It Right.” Full tracklisting below.
Following a run of Winter headlining tour dates that wrapped this past Saturday in Nashville, TN, The Motet will soon get back on the road for a run of spring and summer dates, including back-to-back shows at the House of Blues in New Orleans for two special Jazz Fest late nights shows April 27-28 as well as various headlining and festival dates. Additionally, The Motetreturn to Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Friday, July 12th for a co-headlining show with fellow funk outfit Galactic and support from Moon Hooch.
Death Or Devotion earmarks an important point in The Motet’s journey. For 20 years, the seven-piece (Dave Watts [drums], Joey Porter [keys], Garrett Sayers [bass], Ryan Jalbert [guitar], Lyle Divinsky [vocals], Drew Sayers [sax] and Parris Fleming [trumpet]) have been fusing boisterous badass funk and swaggering soul with a thought-provoking inventiveness to create something truly unique. The new album, recorded at Scanhope Sound in their native Colorado, marks the first time LyleDrew and Parrisworked on a Motet record together from start-to-finish. Each member of the band brought something different to the mix with their own unique set of musical influences and styles. The new collection of songs finds the band pushing boundaries and breaking new ground, welcoming old fans and new audiences alike – continually providing a welcome escape for listeners.
